Xenoverse 2 – Project Z (Discontinued)

Welcome to Project Z

Project Z is a simple mod that aims to create a new experience for battling in Xenoverse 2. This mod brings classic fighting game elements to the Xenoverse formula, without changing the core game. Fights will feel balanced, quicker, more powerful, and remind you of the battles we all loved from Dragon Ball Z. Or, at least that's what we hope to achieve.

How does it work?

This mod uses .x2m characters to create alternate variations for roster characters that are specifically made for Project Z battles. Project Z variations all have the same stats, so that fights will be more fair. Also, Super Souls are not used. The only difference between Project Z characters is the basic combat animation and the skills equipped. These changes make fights more about player skill, rather than character stats and passive abilities. Yes, this means that, in theory, Appule VS. Super Saiyan Blue Goku is now a fair fight. Maybe. Appule probably still sucks.

Quicker and more powerful?

The stats applied to "Project Z" variations are very different from the original roster. Health is increased to the maximum amount that the HUD can register. Ki and Stamina are both set to seven. All types of attacks have increased power, with basic attacks getting a small boost and Supers/Ultimates getting a massive boost. Stamina recovery is now the same in the air as it is on the ground while not moving. Dash distance is increased. Air movement and boosting speed are also increased, to a point that is noticeably different, but not hard to control. Transformations with equal stats have been added. The final stages of transformations have equal stats, with prior stages being weaker. For example, Super Saiyan 3 and Potential Unleashed have the same stats, but Super Saiyan 2 is weaker than both. However, Super Vegeta 2 is as strong as Super Saiyan 3.

Why the name, "Project Z?"

This is in reference to "Project M," a mod for Super Smash Bros. Brawl that changed the game to be more fun and competitive while keeping the core gameplay. That mod brought Brawl back to the days of Melee. This mod hopes to bring back a small feeling of previous games in the Dragon Ball series, such as the "Budokai Tenkaichi" trio of games, which are known for their fast and fun gameplay.

Why was this mod discontinued?

Due to various technical issues and other setbacks, the mod creator decided to stop working on editing the character roster. However, anyone with Eternity's tools can add/edit whatever character they wish, so feel free to expand on the already existing Project Z roster. Be sure to read the tutorials made by Eternity to learn how to make new characters and character slots, and then follow the guide below (intended for CAC's, but works for any character). If you upload a character intended for use with Project Z, please make sure you specify that in either the mod title or description.

Can my CAC have an "Project Z" variation?

Yes! Using Eternity's brilliant CAC2x2m tool, you can create a .x2m file of your character. Then, using Eternity's xv2characreat tool, you can copy either Goku or Vegeta's stats to your CAC or any .x2m character (use the PSC page in the tool). There is a special rule you can follow when it comes to equipping skills, but is not required. This rule is: You must have one Strike Super, one Ki Super, one "other" super (Instant Transmission, Super Guard, etc.) or another Ki super, and Maximum Charge or any Drain skills. This rule can make builds more challenging to use, but also more fair and diverse. It is recommended to use a "Project Z" transformation as well.

Use Eternity's Mod Installer. You can append "Project Z" variations to original characters (recommended for online use), or install them in a new slot.

Highly Recommended Mods to use with this one:

Ultimate Auras - Makes the auras the transformations use look more powerful and flashy.

FighterZ Reshade - Project Z characters load the original character files, so this reshade will also work with this mod! A must have for a fresh experience and compliments the above aura mod nicely.
